Some Layout Things

Click the images to view fullsize.

This is admittedly my weakest area but it couldn't hurt to post a few things. This is work from year 2 so it's quite recent.

For the first assignment we were given a full production layout from a feature film, in this case All Dogs Go To Heaven, and told to draw it from a different camera angle. This particular layout is done in one-point perspective.

I like the chair :p

This second layout was a research project where we were told to go out into the world and find some good objects to reference and include them in a setting of our choice. Being the imaginative mind that I am, I chose a library, I know, I know :/

This layout is in two-point perspective.

Obivous photograph is obvious but I'm between scanners right now.

This third project was just a small part of a group collaboration. The theme was Carnival in New Orleans. The cat statue draws influence fro Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland...which I have not seen. Behold.

And now, a Lip Sync.

Another 3DsMax project. The original sound file is from 30 Rock, one of my favourite shows ever. I think the episode is Senor Macho Solo, it's from season 3 anyway. The speaking character is Kenneth, in his usual way :D

FYI, this model is named Kyle.

3d Animation

Here's some examples of my work in the third dimension. The program is 3Ds Max and the characters were not rendered by me. All I did was animate them.

The first action is a jump over a small object. I think the action of the jump itself is strong but the secondary movement on the arms is obviously poor. I hope to revisit this and correct the arms in the future.

Character's name is Albert in case you were curious.

Here it is side-on for your enjoyment.

Here's Albert again, attempting a WeightLift. He does well considering its a freaking anvil. Shhhhhh artistic licence!

Just for clarity, he knocks himself out when he bangs his head. I am cruel :(

A Spot of Animashoon...

Full View Please.

My apologies for the questionable camera quality in most of these videos, time was not on my side. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to shoot these again in the future.

The first is final submission for the FatSkip assignment for CCH2. Not much to describe, its a fat character jumping rope, what's not to like? The brief required that the character be on model, the jury's still out on just how well that went :/

Here we have my final submission for the FatJump assignment. Character is not on model but...its the movement that counts? Too good to watch just once so for your convenience I looped it thrice!

Next is the FailedLift. That is, a lift that has failed. You're welcome. The character is The Pink Panther and the object is a giant diamond. The assignment also includes a successful lift onto an elevated platform but I feel this particular animation works better overall.

Life Drawing Submission for Year 2

More of the same from my second year. Progression? What progression?

Life Drawing Submission for Year 1

This post features my final submission Portfolio for my Higher Diploma in Classical and Computer Animation (Year 1).  Work circa May 2010.
